The Crew Gaming #BETA
 
Welcome dear community members to one of the most important threads that exist on our forum till now. Of course, as you can see from the title, the main subject in this piece is our very long awaited and delayed start of our Closed Beta-First Stage of the main server, that will happen in this weekend. We firstly want to apologize for the long wait and the numerous delays that happened during the development, we tried our best to keep our promises and to stick with our schedule but developing such a big project alone is very hard and prone to delays and unexpected events that can disturb the expected chain of events. Don’t think that we liked seeing you guys getting more and more disappointed after every delay, most probably it hurt us the most, that we can’t show you our desired piece of work. But the wait is finally over and we can’t wait to see the feedback from all of you!
 
BETA TESTERS
 
As you might know, we had plenty of events over time, with BETA keys as prizes for the winners. Alongside them, from over 200 applicants that tried their luck to get a BETA key, we choose 15 lucky guys back in January this year to take part in our tests ( Corex, BliZarD, OxY, Unix, Siisti-C, Divi, Wolf_Pack, Ramsy, Canky, DizzasTeR, Gallardo, Simon ((replaced PunK)), chris1384, KenZo, Oso.cp ). Today, we chose to pick 10 more guys to help us make the best MTA experience ever seen. The chosen ones are:

  5. Losmi
  6. Moldy
  7. RembeR
  8. valentino
  9. Azula
  10. LonneX

As we said in the last topic related to the BETA testers, THIS IS NOT THE FINAL PICK. In fact, we will have a small registration thread for the ones who didn’t get the chance to register back in January. We will choose around 5 more guys to help us in testing our server, so stay tuned!
    
BETA Information
 
After such a long wait, we are sure that your expectations are up to the sky, so we wanted to show you as much as we can from the final server. This means that most of the things are functional, with just a few exceptions, most of them caused by the new website not being finished. The API that connects the server to the new website is done though so things will go pretty easy from now. So, the things that don’t work are:
  • News
  • Profile
  • Clans (disabled)
  • Music API for xiMusic (Sadly Spotify made some changes in their API breaking my own so i will need to retype it in close future)
Even if the other features work and seem finished, be sure to expect changes until the final version of the server. We aim close to perfection, so a lot of things will be redone as long as they don’t hit our quality standard or are reported by BETA testers. Also, we plan to develop arenas further based on your feedback and to add a lot of new ones periodically.
 
Another important fact is that the main target of the first stage of our Closed BETA is testing the sticker system and general optimization. For that, we considered that 72h are enough to test everything we’ve planned. You might thing that’s a short period for such a long waiting, but we will do BETA tests regularly to test new features and implementations. There’s no reason to keep the server open if everything was tested and approved by the community.
So the First Stage will take 72h from the server opening that will happen this weekend with the possibility of extending it if we don’t get to test everything we want, followed by regular BETA tests when we’re making updates.
 
BETA Warm up

We know you can’t wait 1-2 more days, so we decided to show already the main part of this first BETA test. As you could read earlier, it’s about the sticker system. We consider it to be the best implementation of this feature in MTA until now and we worked hard to make it optimized and easy to use. You can see a demonstration of it right down below: 
We hope we got you even more interested about it, even if it’s not fully finished yet. We’re waiting for your feedback!

That’s all for now, we can’t wait to see all of your reactions regarding our long-awaited work. We will make a special BETA section on our forum where you can see all the news and topics related to it. As we said, the server will open in this weekend. Right now we’re making sure everything works fine and adding final touches to our infrastructure. See you in the server!

The Crew Gaming 2.0 Website & Forum is finally live. After almost 3 years of initial release it was about time to update such critical aspect to our beloved community. Every feature described in @'TC|Nathan's topic Xmas Surprise! is currently available and free to use. Sunday was the time when our forum such as website were set free without even single menton or thread. With the help of members and some users I was fixing rest of bugs what have been found by them. Today I can finally say that its ready and probably without annoying bugs, but if you find some weird behavior or glitch please report it in that section.

Changelog 29.01.2019:

  • Fixed forum feed problem with fetching threads and post from boards with custom permissions
  • Added social links in footer
  • Fixed a lot visual bugs in desktop & mobile version
  • Changed a lot of grammar mistakes
  • Reorganized forum structure and get rid of some unused boards
       and some small changes not worth mentioning.


There could be a lot of more cause plenty of changes and new features wasn't even mentioned, but we let you discovering these by yourself.

Nothing will be deleted, cause its not secret that i typed scripts for NTL, also have some real life reasons why i don't have access to Discord yet and the only PM message you left here was typed yesterday and just read it and replied to it. You didn't wanted to contact me via forum or mail for few months so though that you are just waiting. The only way to contact me for past months was only via phone, mail and recently forum. Don't wanna to share why cause its private stuff, but sometimes there are more important stuff than some MTA game and i had to make some choices and have to live with it now. Right now everything goes to normal and you should get your delayed things before Christmas.

Sorry for let you wait so long, understand that could be exhausting and pissing off.

PS: Thanks for Krzysztof for telling me about that thread cause i would miss it too.

Have you taken key from https://beta.thecrewgaming.com in past 24h? If no then copy it once again cause key changed once due to problem with API which we mentioned in "We are sorry, but... S02E03".

So let's start from "We are sorry, but...". Okay, now some real information about what has happened in order for us to move the BETA date once again, and of course it's my fault (or.. maybe not this time?) So as an excuse, we need to state that the ultimate reason why the BETA is getting moved today is a DATE, yes that is exactly right.. a DATE!
  
  
While i was in the middle of doing this project of TC Server, API and the whole BETA managment software the main goal of all of those was security between the server and the forum. Unfortunately our server, API and the forum were hosted on the same PC while i was developing so i couldnt check how it will behave on different machines. Today after configuring the whole BETA machine after the problems from yesterday.. the API didn't want to work like it did on my own server. The reason found for this after hours and hours of debugging was DATE and TIME. The problem is that the forum and API are connected to each other but are hosted on different machines and the BETA keys use advanced cryptology to generate them and one of the random factors to generate it is TIME. The problem with the DATE is that the forum and the BETA server are in different timezones because the BETA server machine company comes from US (server is in France) but their services require to have their machine times set in US Time and its not possible to change the time on shared machines due to a "date" command which is disabled in OS Kernel. So because of that problem, the keys on our forum and the BETA are different so you are not able to login onto the authentication server and main gamemode as well due to their usage of complex authentication algorithm which is based on KEYS.

Problem would be solved in a few minutes but keys are generated real time so its not stored in columns for security reasons, but if it wouldn't have been done this way i wouldnt have been having to be typing all of this technical IT stuff to you right now. I am going to work on this issue to resolve this as soon as possible and sadly BETA is moved until tomorrow, if someone is having problems with it then he can return their key, i am sure that other people who dont have so much luck will be happy to get the new BETA keys.
